Air New Zealand has officially lifted the curtain on its highly anticipated new uniform – a vibrant, culturally rich collection that marks a bold new chapter for the airline and the nation it represents.
Designed by internationally acclaimed fashion designer Emilia Wickstead, in collaboration with renowned tā moko artist Te Rangitu Netana, the new look is more than a wardrobe update – it’s a statement of identity. Every stitch and pattern weaves together heritage, artistry, and national pride, reflecting the spirit of Aotearoa to the world.

The collection, which will be worn by more than 6,000 Air New Zealanders globally, features vivid colours, bold prints, and elevated tailoring. From the kōwhai-inspired Fine Print dress to the versatile Collective Thread shirt, each piece tells a unique story rooted in Māori and Pasifika tradition, while embracing modern style and inclusivity.
“For us, this is more than just a uniform,” said Greg Foran, Chief Executive of Air New Zealand. “It’s a celebration of our people, our culture, and our values. We’ve never been about blending in – we lead with innovation and heart. This new uniform encapsulates all that we are: bold, proud, and uniquely New Zealand.”

Wickstead, a London-based Kiwi designer, described the project as a dream come true.
“This was deeply personal,” she said. “I set out to create a uniform that not only looks beautiful but carries meaning. It honours the land, the people, and their stories – empowering those who wear it and sparking pride in those who see it.”
Adding further depth to the garments are the intricate, hand-painted designs by Netana, whose tā moko-inspired prints form the cultural heartbeat of the collection.
“Each design is a visual narrative,” said Netana. “They speak of the land, the sea, the stars, and the connections that unite us. I’m honoured to bring te ao Māori into a space where it can be seen by the world — authentically and powerfully.”

A Step Toward the Future
The new uniforms will begin wearer trials in May 2025, with full rollout expected across Air New Zealand’s global network in 2026. Feedback from staff during the trial will help refine the final designs to ensure both functionality and comfort are as elevated as the look itself.
With this bold new collection, Air New Zealand reaffirms its role not just as an airline, but as a proud ambassador of Aotearoa — flying the flag for culture, innovation, and identity, one uniform at a time.
