Aer Lingus, the flag carrier of Ireland, was established in 1936 by the Irish government to provide air services between Ireland and the United Kingdom. The airline’s inaugural flight took place on May 27, 1936, from Baldonnel Aerodrome in Dublin to Bristol, England, using a six-seater de Havilland DH.84 Dragon. Over the decades, Aer Lingus expanded its network across Europe and initiated transatlantic flights to North America in 1958. In 2006, the airline was privatized through a public offering, and in 2015, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group (IAG). Today, Aer Lingus operates a hybrid model, combining elements of both low-cost and traditional carriers, offering a mix of short-haul and long-haul services.
