Delta Air Lines began in 1925 as Huff Daland Dusters, an agricultural crop-dusting company. It transitioned into passenger services in 1929 under the name Delta Air Service, named after the Mississippi Delta region. Over the decades, Delta expanded through mergers and acquisitions, including notable ones with Northeast Airlines, Western Airlines, and Northwest Airlines in 2008, which solidified its position as one of the largest airlines globally. Known for its innovation and customer focus, Delta became a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance in 2000 and continues to lead in operational efficiency and service quality.
