Eurowings was founded in 1993 as a regional airline in Germany, initially operating domestic routes. Over the years, it expanded its network and services, becoming a low-cost carrier under the Lufthansa Group. In 2015, Eurowings was rebranded and positioned as Lufthansa’s low-cost arm for short- and medium-haul flights. It later absorbed parts of Air Berlin’s operations after Air Berlin’s bankruptcy in 2017, further expanding its market presence. Today, Eurowings focuses on leisure and budget-conscious travel within Europe and select intercontinental routes.
