ITA Airways was established in 2020 as the successor to the financially troubled Alitalia. It began operations on October 15, 2021, inheriting some assets, routes, and staff from Alitalia while adopting a more streamlined and efficient business model. The airline aims to focus on sustainability, customer experience, and financial stability, with ambitions to restore Italy’s prominence in international aviation. ITA Airways quickly joined the SkyTeam alliance and has been building partnerships to expand its global reach.

ITA Airways’ loyalty program is called Volare. Members can earn and redeem points on ITA Airways flights and partner services. The tier levels include Smart, Plus, Premium, and Executive, each offering increasing benefits such as extra baggage, lounge access, and priority services. Points are redeemable for flights, upgrades, and partner benefits within the SkyTeam alliance.

ITA Airways Lounges include Piazza di Spagna and the Hangar Lounge at Rome airport, Piazza della Scala in Milan, and Piazza Vincenzo Bellini at Catania. Lounges include comfortable seating, complimentary dining, and beverages, workspaces with Wi-Fi, charging stations, and quiet areas and shower facilities for long-haul travelers.
Access is available for Business Class passengers, Volare Premium/Executive members and SkyTeam Elite Plus members. Travellers in other classes can purchase entry.
