Japan Airlines (JAL) was established in 1951 as the country’s national flag carrier. Initially a government-owned airline, JAL played a pivotal role in connecting Japan to the world during the post-war economic boom. By 1987, it was privatized and continued expanding its international and domestic route network. Despite facing financial challenges in the late 2000s, JAL underwent a successful restructuring and emerged stronger in 2010. Domestic: JAL covers an extensive network of over 50 cities across Japan, including major destinations like Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, and Fukuoka.
International: JAL flies to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore in Asia. North American destinations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Vancouver. To Europe, destinations include London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Helsinki. In Oceania region, JAL conducts flights to Sydney and Melbourne.

JALโs loyalty program is called Mileage Bank (JMB). Miles can be earned on JAL flights, oneworld partner airlines, and various non-airline partners and redeemed for flights, upgrades, hotel stays, and shopping.
