Vietjet Air was established in 2007 as Vietnam’s first privately owned airline, receiving initial approval from the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance in November of that year. After several delays attributed to economic conditions and regulatory challenges, the airline commenced operations on December 25, 2011, with its inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. Since then, VietJet has rapidly expanded its network and fleet, becoming a significant player in the Asian low-cost carrier market.
