Wizz Air was founded in 2003 by Jรณzsef Vรกradi, a former CEO of Malรฉv Hungarian Airlines, with the aim of providing affordable air travel to Central and Eastern Europe. The airline’s first flight took place in May 2004, connecting Budapest to London Luton. Initially serving routes to low-cost destinations in Europe, Wizz Air expanded rapidly and became a leading low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe. Over the years, the airline has grown its presence in European markets and added additional hubs in cities like Bucharest, Sofia, and Warsaw. Wizz Air is known for its low-cost model and has become a strong competitor in the European budget airline sector.
