In a move that could redefine the rhythm of air travel worldwide, IDEMIA Public Security and Elenium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering biometrics at airports.
The agreement brings together two heavyweights of travel technology: IDEMIA Public Security, a global leader in secure identity and biometric solutions, and Elenium, the Australian-born pioneer in aviation self-service automation. The mission is to create a seamless, contactless passenger journey from curb to gate.
At the heart of the partnership lies a unified digital identity layer designed to follow passengers across every airport touchpoint. From check-in kiosks and automated bag drop to security screening, lounge access, and final boarding calls, biometric recognition will replace repetitive document checks. The aim: fewer bottlenecks, faster flows, and a radically simplified experience.
Airports, long defined by queues and congestion, may soon operate more like frictionless digital corridors.
Under the agreement, Elenium’s high-performance, cloud-first self-service platform will integrate with IDEMIA’s advanced biometric passenger processing and AI-driven baggage identification systems.

Elenium’s systems have already supported more than 1.7 billion passenger journeys across 45 airlines and 35 airports worldwide. IDEMIA Public Security, meanwhile, processes over one billion travelers annually across more than 250 airports, supplying government-grade biometric and border management systems.
Airports face mounting pressure: rising passenger numbers, tighter security requirements, staffing challenges, and increasing demands for privacy protection.
The partnership positions itself as the solution to that balancing act.
By combining automation with biometric intelligence and computer vision, the companies say they can reduce congestion while strengthening identity assurance. For airports operating within common-use terminal environments, the unified framework promises easier integration and faster modernization without tearing out existing infrastructure.
