BOC Aviation, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has announced a firm order for 70 more Airbus A320neo Family aircraft—marking the largest Airbus backlog in the company’s history.
“This transaction increases our remaining Airbus order book to approximately 200 aircraft and brings our total Airbus deliveries to over 700, including both direct purchases and leasebacks, since our first order in 1996,” said Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BOC Aviation.
“This latest order strengthens our position as one of the top five global aircraft lessors and ensures a robust delivery pipeline well into the next decade. We’re excited to continue supporting our airline partners with this highly efficient and technologically advanced aircraft family.”
Airbus welcomed the deal as a strong endorsement of the A320neo’s ongoing global success.
“This major new order from BOC Aviation reflects its sustained confidence in the A320 Family—the world’s most successful single-aisle aircraft,” said Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales, Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
“With this investment, BOC Aviation becomes one of our largest customers and reinforces the growing demand for fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft. We look forward to building on our long-standing partnership to offer airlines cutting-edge fleet solutions.”
The Airbus A320 Family has secured more than 19,000 orders worldwide, making it the best-selling single-aisle aircraft line in aviation history. The family includes the A321neo, the largest variant, which delivers exceptional range, performance, and efficiency.
Designed with passenger comfort and operational flexibility in mind, the A320neo Family offers at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ emissions reduction compared to previous-generation aircraft. It also features one of the widest cabins in the single-aisle market.
The A320 Family is already capable of flying with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with full 100% SAF capability targeted by 2030—supporting the industry’s broader sustainability goals.
