Korean Air has signed an agreement to implement Airbus’ upgraded predictive maintenance platform, Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+), marking a major step in the airline’s digital transformation and fleet integration strategy. The deal was finalized on October 16 during the MRO Europe 2025 conference in London.
The new system will replace Korean Air’s existing Skywise Predictive Maintenance+ (SPM+) and Skywise Health Monitoring (SHM) tools, providing a unified data-driven platform to enhance aircraft reliability and maintenance efficiency. The adoption comes as the airline prepares to integrate Asiana Airlines’ fleet, with S.FP+ set to support both carriers’ Airbus aircraft once the merger is complete.
S.FP+ leverages advanced analytics to predict potential component failures before they occur, helping airlines minimize Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events and related operational costs. Korean Air has chosen the “Control” tier of the platform, which includes pre-departure check support and intelligent troubleshooting functions powered by natural language processing. The system will initially cover the airline’s A321neo, A330, A350, and A380 fleets.
Jong Hoon Oh, Head of Korean Air’s Predictive Maintenance Team, said the upgrade builds on a proven record of performance. “Our data-driven maintenance strategy has prevented over 100 potential flight disruptions in 2024 alone,” he said. “This upgrade to S. Fleet Performance+ is a strategic step as we prepare to integrate the Asiana fleet, ensuring we maintain the highest levels of operational reliability and efficiency at a larger scale.”
