LATAM Airlines Group S.A. has signed a major agreement with Brazilian planemaker Embraer to acquire up to 74 of its next-generation E195-E2 aircraft, a move aimed at strengthening regional air connectivity across South America.
The deal includes 24 firm orders and 50 purchase options, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. The new jets will first be deployed by LATAM Airlines Brazil, with other LATAM affiliates expected to follow.
LATAM said the decision is part of a broader strategy to expand domestic and regional operations following four years of profitable growth. The 24 firm orders are valued at approximately US$2.1 billion at list prices.
“Over the past four years, LATAM group has focused on expanding its domestic and regional network, creating the most comprehensive and seamless way of travelling within South America,” said Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group. “The Embraer E195-E2 will allow us to continue on our path of profitable growth by opening new destinations, giving passengers more travel options and connecting communities.”
Embraer’s President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto called the order a “strategic partnership” and praised LATAM’s choice of the E195-E2 as the “most efficient and best-suited aircraft” for the airline’s growth plans.
The E195-E2, the largest member of Embraer’s E-Jet E2 family, is designed to offer lower operating costs, superior fuel efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort with a two-by-two cabin layout. The aircraft uses Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and advanced fly-by-wire technology, cutting fuel consumption per seat by up to 30 percent compared to earlier-generation models.
The new planes will join LATAM’s fleet of 362 aircraft, which includes Airbus A320-family narrowbodies, Boeing widebodies, and dedicated freighters. Since 2021, LATAM has expanded its network from 129 to 160 passenger destinations — a 24% increase — underscoring its push to improve connectivity across the region
