Geoffrey Thomas
Based in Western Australia, Geoffrey Thomas has been a leading aviation journalist and commentator for 50 years. He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of 42kft.com, the world’s first airline environmental ranking website, and runs the YouTube channel @GeoffreyThomasOnAir. He is also the Aviation Editor at Business News, WA’s premier business publication.
Previously, Geoffrey was Chief Editor of Air Transport World (2000-2012), SE-Asian Contributing Editor for Aviation Week & Space Technology (1996-2000), and Aviation Editor of The West Australian (1996-2023). He also served as Editor-in-Chief of Airlineratings.com for 10 years.
Over his career, he has received 47 international and national awards, including Aerospace Journalist of the Year (2009), Australasian Aviation Journalist of the Year (2009), a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Royal Aeronautical Society (2018), and an Outstanding Achievement Award for his MH370 coverage (2020).
Geoffrey has produced and presented aviation documentaries for Australia’s Channel 7, contributed to investigative programs like Air Crash Investigation/Mayday, and is a regular expert on CNN, BBC, Sky News, Al Jazeera, and Channel News Asia.
He has co-authored 17 books with his wife Christine and Aviation Week‘s Guy Norris, including Greening Wings, which explores aviation’s environmental impact. His works are also used in the University of Southern California’s human factors in engineering course.
Before transitioning full-time to aviation journalism, Geoffrey spent 25 years in commerce and international banking, along with two years in the airline industry.
Christine Wells
Christine Wells (B.A. Social Sciences, B. App. Sci.) is a published writer in WA Business News and The West Australian travel pages, specializing in consumer issues and destinations.
She played a key role at Air Transport World, contributing to major air shows in the UK, France, Dubai, and Singapore, and conducting research on readership and passenger issues.
Christine has co-authored 17 books on aviation and travel with Geoffrey. As a Speech and Language Pathologist, she excels at translating complex technical content into accessible language for broader audiences.
Sandy West
Aviation writer, Visual storyteller & Communications specialist
Sandy West is a Perth-based aviation writer, photographer, and communications professional with over 15 years of experience across journalism, media, and strategic content production. She has worked internationally in both newsrooms and field assignments, with a background in photojournalism and media reporting, and has collaborated closely with Geoffrey Thomas throughout that time — contributing to publications, airline reviews, and several aviation titles and books.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Media and a Master of Communications, Sandie combines editorial expertise with strong visual storytelling — producing engaging content across digital, print, and video platforms. Her work spans airline product reviews, fleet profiles, passenger experience coverage, and broader travel industry features.
Bilingual in English and French, she has worked internationally across a range of assignments, and is known for her clear, accessible tone and strong understanding of both aviation and audience. Her style blends technical insight with real-world experience, creating content that’s informative, engaging, and widely relevant.
