In a high-profile agreement announced Wednesday, Qatar Airways inked a massive deal with U.S. aerospace giant Boeing, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf state.
Reuters said the agreement, reportedly worth over $200 billion and involving 160 aircraft, marks a significant boost to U.S.-Qatar commercial ties.

Trump and Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, oversaw the ceremonial signing in Doha—part of Trump’s broader tour of Gulf nations following a string of deals secured in Saudi Arabia just a day earlier.
“This is the largest order of jets in Boeing’s history,” Trump declared, quoting Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg. “It’s over $200 billion… that’s fantastic. So that’s a record, Kelly. Congratulations to Boeing. Get those planes out there.”
The agreement was signed by Ortberg and Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, flanked by the U.S. president and the Qatari emir.
While details remain sparse—including the specific aircraft models and whether the orders are firm or optional—the announcement has sent ripples through the aviation industry.
Aviation analysts estimate that a deal involving 160 long-haul 777X jets alone could be valued at approximately $70 billion.
However we believe that the order will involved 787s as well and possibly the 787-10 model which be perfect for Qatar Airways route network into Europe.
It will also involve 777-8Fs as well.
Currently Qatar Airways has on order the following wide-body aircraft from Boeing:
60 777-9s
34 777-8Fs
8 787-9s
5 777-200LRF
The airline has in its current Boeing widebody fleet:
53 787s
28 777Fs
57 777-300ERs
7 777-200LRs
Neither Boeing nor Qatar Airways have issued official statements or clarified the exact terms of the agreement.
If all the 160 jets were 777-9s then Qatar Airways would be the biggest customer for the jets.
