Travelers can now book seats on United Airlines’ most premium international aircraft to date, as the carrier prepares to debut its newly configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with the “United Elevated” interior.
First unveiled in May last year, the redesigned aircraft represents a major shift toward high-end travel, with 99 premium seats—giving it the highest proportion of premium seating among U.S. airlines.
At the front of the aircraft is the headline feature: the new Polaris Studio suites. The cabin includes eight lie-flat, all-aisle-access seats that are around 25% larger than standard Polaris business class seats and come fitted with sliding privacy doors. Each suite also features an ottoman seat for companions, a 27-inch 4K OLED screen—the largest offered by any U.S. airline—alongside wireless charging and Bluetooth connectivity.
Passengers seated in Polaris Studio will also receive upgraded onboard service, including exclusive entrée options, an Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche, premium amenity kits with Perricone MD skincare products, and Saks Fifth Avenue bedding.
The aircraft is scheduled to enter international service on April 22, operating flight UA1 from San Francisco to Singapore. A second route, from San Francisco to London Heathrow, will follow on April 30. In the lead-up to launch, the aircraft is expected to operate select domestic flights between San Francisco and Houston.
“The new era of premium air travel is coming soon with our first Elevated aircraft taking flight next month,” said Andrew Nocella, United’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. “Our new aircraft redefines international long-haul flying, providing travelers upgraded amenities and experiences in every cabin.”
Beyond the flagship suites, the aircraft also features 56 standard Polaris business class seats, 35 Premium Plus seats, and a combined 123 seats in Economy Plus and standard economy. All cabins have been upgraded with 4K OLED seatback screens, Bluetooth connectivity, and enhanced power access.
United said the investment reflects growing demand for premium travel, with improvements extending throughout the aircraft—from larger overhead bins to redesigned seating and upgraded dining options.
To mark the inaugural flight, the airline will host a gate celebration at San Francisco International Airport, along with media tours of the aircraft ahead of its first commercial service.
United plans to expand the Elevated interior across at least 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft by the end of 2027. Tickets and seat maps are now available via the airline’s website.
